Fan

A fan does not change the inherent air temperature.

Air cooler

An air cooler cools the air through the process of evaporation. It works on the principle of enthalpy, i.e., water absorbs a proportionately larger quantity of heat in order to evaporate. In dry environments, cooling of air via evaporation also has the benefit of conditioning the air with added moisture, ensuring your comfort.

Air Conditioner

An air conditioner treats the air in an enclosed area through refrigeration. Here, hot air is taken, replacing it with cooler air. The whole process is referred to as HVAC, which is heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. It is done by altering the properties of air in a closed-door space and cooling the air within by changing the temperature.

Dehumidifier

A dehumidifier reduces and maintains the humidity level in the air around you, often to eliminate musty smell and to prevent the growth of mold by removing h2O from the air. With the functionality like that of a vacuum cleaner, a dehumidifier pulls air from any given space, extracts the moisture which is then accumulated in the collection tank. This has to be emptied on a regular basis. The moisture is extracted, in a similar manner, in which an AC functions, through refrigeration. It also works on the basis of absorption and adsorption.

Depending on the region you’re from, make a wise decision on what you need to choose. If you are from an area with higher humidity, and air cooler on rent is not a great option since they only add more humidity. Although one often thinks of running a dehumidifier and an air cooler at the same time to address the above issue, it is definitely a no. Taking the functionality of each into consideration and the energy used to run each appliance, it is only going to make your room hotter.
